Welcome!

Hey there! This is Kurotronic Scans, coming at ya like a cyborg cat’s bullet! So this is the first post I’ll be publishing here. Exciting! Introductions first; I’m Zed and I’m the leader of Kurotronic Scans! There are a few things you should know about this group:

  • We are a bilingual scanlation group, releasing manga translations in both Arabic and English.
  • This group focuses mostly on translating old, obscure, out-of-print or dropped manga. That doesn’t mean we’re not open to newer manga, however! Once a formidable team has been formed, we’ll most definitely broaden our horizons.
  • Our releases will vary in genre; we are not a genre-specific group. That being said, expect to see mostly shoujo, shonen and 4-koma titles from us for a while.
  • We do not & never will translate NSFW titles. This is a strictly safe-for-work group.
  • This group is non-profit! (as the majority of scanlation circles are.)
  • Our releases will be published simultaneously here and on our group page on MangaDex. This will be the group’s main hub, though, so everything will be put here first.
  • Uploading our releases to third-party and manga-reading websites is mostly permitted; however, our credits must not be removed. Whenever you download a file folder containing our releases with the intention of uploading them elsewhere, make sure the image file titled “CREDITS – DO NOT REMOVE” remains there. It would suck to have to plaster a big ugly watermark on our pages or lock them with a password. We really want our work to be accessible to everyone!
  • We will always be looking for staff! We wholeheartedly welcome anyone who’s willing to join us, whether you’d like to be a permanent member or if you just want to volunteer a couple of helping hands for a while. Check our recruitment page for the positions available and how to apply. No specific skills required either–we’re not nit-picky!
  • And last, but certainly not least, we must stress that we are not a permanent stand-in for English manga releases and should not be considered as such. What that means is, just because we release a certain title for free, doesn’t mean you should put off purchasing an original physical/digital copy of that title or suggesting it to your favourite English manga publisher to be licensed, especially if you’ve enjoyed it! We urge our readers to support the authors of all the manga we release in any way possible, and not just relying on scanlations. The general stance on scanlation is murky enough as is, so we’d really like to play it safe and make it so that all parties are treated fairly. (The case with Arabic releases differs however; there are no known Arabic language manga publishers to date, so we may put out Arabic-only releases of manga that have already been fully licensed in English.)

Now with all that of the way, we will work hard on getting our projects prioritized and organized, and our first release should be up here within the coming weeks and subsequently on our MangaDex page. (EDIT: We now have a Mangadex page! Check it out here: https://mangadex.org/group/14431/kurotronic-scans)

Please look forward to our future releases! We’ll be doing our best to put out stuff readers can enjoy, and maybe even introduce you to a hidden gem in need of love.

Thank you!

-Zed
